The Mermaid, 1922
Ásmundur Sveinsson created this sculpture under the guidance of Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955) in Stockholm, Sweden. The sculpture was intended to be installed in a pool or a fountain but that didn’t happen. The Mermaid holds a couple of fish and is carried on a wave. The rippling wave reflects the movement of her body.
