People seem to have realized quite early on how colors can be created by mixing water and materials. Watercolors, for example, can be found in both European cave paintings and Egyptian pyramids. Therefore, it can be said that watercolors represent a large part of cultural history from the beginning to the present day. Icelandic artists have also used watercolors in their creations, although the main pioneers did not come to the fore until the turn of the century in 1900. Since then artists of all ages have chosen to paint with watercolors along with other media.
