Worship, 1940
Quite a few sculptures by Ásmundur Sveinsson show the connection between mother and child, and the mother is often prominent. Ásmundur was greatly inspired by women and depicts their many sides in his work. In Worship, the female appears as the noble mother who embraces her child lovingly and in protection. This is one of the last sculptures which the artist created in his home at Freyjugata in Reykjavík.
