"A floor is a place," Katrín Sigurðardóttir stated when she first introduced her ideas for the 2013 Icelandic Pavilion in Venice. This book documents the place she created - a floating, disembodied floor superimposed on the lavanderia at the Palazzo Zenobio. An essay by the poet and art critic Eva Heisler places the installation in the context of Sigurðardóttir's previous work and an interview with the artist herself reviews the process that led to the installation. Seven fictional letters, written by the Icelandic writer Kristín Omarsdóttir and inspired by Sigurðardóttir's art, add a personal note.
