The Nose (The Land Guardians), Undated
According to Ásmundur Sveinsson’s description in an interview book by Matthías Johannessen, this sculpture depicts a series of noses which face in all directions. The Nose is also known as The Land Guardians. Here, Sveinsson experiments with cubist forms. The four land guardians are the protectors of Iceland; they are the bull, the eagle, the dragon and the rock-giant.
